Moroccanoil Shampoo/Conditioner | Pureology Shampoo/Conditoner
Coming from someone with EXTREMELY thick hair, it is sooo hard to find a shampoo/conditioner that actually tames it. Not only is my hair thick, but it gets very tangled when I wash it (I go daaaayyys without washing my hair). Finally, I have narrowed it down to 2 products that have worked wonders for me- MoroccanOil Moisture Repair and Pureology Hydrate. If you have the same problems, you will definitely want to read on :)
SIZE
As you can tell above, there is a huge size difference between the two products. Unfortunately, you can only get MO in a small bottle which is a huge bummer! Also, I broke it down below- MO is a bit more expensive than Pureology.
-MoroccanOil: I get my MO Moisture Repair shampoo and conditioner online. It comes in an 8.5 oz bottle and is $24 for the shampoo and $25 for the conditioner. That breaks down to $2.82/oz for the shampoo and $2.94/oz for the conditioner.
-Pureology: I get my Pureology at Ulta. It comes in a 33.8oz bottle and is $64 for the shampoo and $66 for the conditioner. That breaks down to $1.89/oz for the shampoo and $1.95/oz for the conditioner.
SMELL
I really really love having the fresh clean smell after I wash my hair. Both MO and Pureology have very distinct smells, so really it is just a personal preference.
-MoroccanOil: I love the smell of MO! It is a very fresh and clean smell. I don’t know how else to describe it besides just clean haha :)
-Pureology: Pureology has a very minty smell, or as my little sister likes to say “it smells like pepper”. It is a super strong and overpowering smell, which I do not like at all. I would prefer to have the fresh clean smell over a minty smell, but my older sister loves the minty smell!
QUALITY
Most importantly, let’s talk about the quality! Both brands are seriously amazing for my thick unmanageable hair. I really do love them both! They both leave my hair feeling silky smooth and don’t leave that greasy feeling that some shampoos and conditioners leave. As far as quality goes, I think they both do the same “job” for my hair.
OVERALL
There are pros and cons to both MO and Pureology. The size of the MO is a huge bummer, but the smell is amazing. On the flip side, the size of Pureology is great and it makes it a little bit cheaper but I really hate the smell. Even though the MO is a little more expensive, if I had to choose 1 I would choose MO. I think the smell has a lot to do with it! I am also a big lover of all the MO products and I generally like their products more. If you do like the minty smell, maybe try out Pureology to see if you like it! I would recommend getting the smaller travel size at first to try.
So I am curious! Has anybody else tried out both MO and Pureology? If so, which one do you prefer to use?
xo, Hales
Other Moroccanoil products I love!
Yes I have both actually, but I can get the huge bottles of MO here in Oklahoma from select salons ?. Like you, I love them both for different reasons. They both leave my hair silky smooth and smelling great (I agree with your niece, love the minty smell) I love how MO smells and works with my hair, and I love how pureology leaves my head feeling tingly and clean.
